lil’ bit about me:)
hey yall, i’m monica!
I was born and raised in the small town, but now - very well known - Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro graduating with a degree in Sustainable Tourism & Hospitality with a minor in Philosophy. Immediately after college I moved back to the area to live with my sister near downtown Kannapolis for the next 5 years.
Landing my first corporate job just a few weeks after graduation I dove head first working within the hospitality industry for the next 2 years, I started to envision a career for myself within the hotel world. Well, as you know how the story goes as 2020 became our reality, the pandemic served like a very large needle that came to pop my hopes and dreams.
how did i get here?
Since 2020, I have done many different jobs, never really finding my “calling” through out each experience. I mean, I dabbled in network marketing, sales, admin jobs, ware houses, event coordinating and even cybersecurity.
I feel extremely grateful for the many new skills I acquired along the way. These experiences allowed me to develop a strong ability in, organization, time management, and working independently. While I never really felt like I was a good “fit” for corporations, these continuous failures forced me to turn inward and ask myself “what do you really want to do”?
Taking a step back and analyzing my skills, it dawned on me that my calling has been in my hand this whole time.
My phone.
My miscellaneous endeavors from ages 22-27, I consistently posted and managed platforms of various jobs. Social media has always came easy to me and most of the time I would volunteer for that portion of the job because I enjoyed it.
Throughout the end of my adolescents & the beginning of my adulthood, social media became a part of my every day life. In todays world, it has become an essential marketing tool for all sorts of businesses, big and small!
As I embark on this journey of becoming a Freelance Creator, I myself am shocked to see come this July, I will be celebrating 12 years of experience with Instagram and other Social Media platforms.
While we continue to live in these unprecedented times, 12 years of experience on one app is starting to sound less embarrassing and more like the calling I was meant to do!
